Jerusalem's Holy Sites Exposed to Iranian Attacks

On March 16, the Iranian regime again fired rockets at Jerusalem's Old City, apparently targeting places reserved for worship and pilgrimage, including the holy sites of the three major religions. This time, fragments of the rockets fell within the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the Temple Mount, and the Western Wall.

The Basilica (Church) of the Holy Sepulchre

This place is the most important pilgrimage point for many Christian believers. This place commemorates the crucifixion and burial of Jesus. For Orthodox believers, every year on Easter the Holy Fire emerges from here, which then spreads throughout the world. The latest archaeological research and investigations reveal and confirm the connection of this place with Biblical events from the time of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Wailing Wall

A holy site in Judaism. A place where visitors to Jerusalem, of all religions, generally leave their prayers between the stone blocks. These written prayers are later carefully preserved and stored.

Al Aqsa

The Al-Aqsa Mosque is located next to the Western Wall. It is considered a holy site for Muslims. It contains a rock believed to date back to the time of Abraham.

Four points can be drawn from the current situation:

  1. The Iranian terrorist regime is deliberately targeting Jerusalem - a city where more than a million Jews, Christians and Muslims live - thereby directly endangering the lives of the civilian population and threatening the holy sites of the three religions.

  2. The fact that the Ayatollah's regime decided to fire missiles during the holy Muslim holiday at sites sacred to Islam demonstrates its cynical disregard for all that is sacred.

  3. The attack on the holy sites further highlights that claims against Israel regarding any restrictions on Muslim freedom of worship are baseless and represent a transparent attempt to incite and inflame tensions, without any factual or religious basis.

  4. Israel protects the holy sites of all believers and uses all necessary defensive means to prevent harm to all believers and all holy sites.

This year, the Easter celebration in Jerusalem will not take place due to security reasons, although it is possible that a limited number of people will attend to observe the tradition.
